I didn’t even think about it until yesterday, but Budgeting in the Fun Stuff was started February 20, 2010. I’ve been blogging for 3 years!!! Yay!!! In the world of blogging, that’s pretty dang cool.
What’s Changed in 3 Years
A lot has happened over these past 3 years. I started blogging at age 27 in 2010 while working a job that was so dead-end that they asked me to “look busy” during the slow months. That’s how I discovered personal finance blogs even existed.
Blogging led to blog advertising and I was able to quit that day job in July 2011. Business kept growing, so Mr. BFS joined me full-time at home in January 2012. Most of 2012 was spent dealing with Google slap issues and having our forever home built. Now it’s 2013, I’m 30 years old, and I’m trying to recapture the insane amount of energy I had in 2010 and 2011, lol.
I know some of you have been following me since early 2010…thank you. It has been really fun to get to know you and share my life. It’s absolutely amazing that this is still so freaking enjoyable and it is because of all of you readers and commenters!

It Doesn’t Feel Like 3 Years
It really doesn’t feel like it’s been 3 years since I wrote those first posts. It feels like a year at max…time really does fly. I guess that is a great thing because I do not feel tired of this at all. I still love writing for you every week. I am super excited that you actually come here regularly to read. I plan on continuing to do this for as long as you’ll have me, so I guess everything is as it should be here in our blogging world, lol.
Plan for the Future
Honestly, I never really know what I’ll be writing about or what you want to hear, so my plan is quite simple. I will keep writing from the heart, using BFS as my journal and forum, and you should all feel free to email me anytime with any specific ideas you have for future posts.
Seriously, if you want to hear more details about our food budget than I already share, ask away. If you actually want non-financial stories once in a while about something completely different, let me know. I am a very open person here and “in real life” – just talk to me. I don’t bite and I really do care. Just let me know what you want to read about and I will try to make it happen. My email is budgetingfunstuff *at* gmail.com. Ask/suggest at will.
I hope a year from now that you are still reading and I’m still feeling like it’s the first year.
Thank you all!!!

Congrats Crystal – 3 years, that’s awesome!!!!
Congrats on hitting three years!
Congrats, Crystal! You have been an inspiration and a big help to me in my first months! Here’s to 3 more years!

Congratulations Crystal! We’ve all enjoyed reading your notes!
Congrats!
You’ve come a long way in the 3 years! We started at around the same age and time; my own 3 years will come up soon.
Congrats, Crystal! Keep up the good work! More blogging years to come!
Congrats on 3 years! I always enjoy your posts and you are an inspiration.
Congrats!! I can remember almost all the posts you listed in this anniversary post
I can’t wait to keep seeing the cool stuff you come out with!
Congrats. I know I was relatively new at the time when you started (1.5 years) so I guess we’ve both been around a while
Good work and keep it up.
COngrats crystal on 3 years. Remember your pink and purple site on blogger?
Thanks everyone!!!
@Jeff @ SLB, first of all, it was black background with white/gray writing not pink and purple, lol. And secondly, pics or it never happened.
I try not to think about that phase…and no using MikeS as a witness. Hahaha!

@Jeff, HAHAHA. That was after I figured out no one like the black background.
But at least it’s not purple and pink, hehehe.

Congratulations, Crystal, and thanks for the ad work you do on our behalf.
Congratulations!!!!

Congrats crystal that is so awesome! I hope the next three years are.as good as the first three.
Congratulations on 3 years! Your blog (and your ebook) have been such an inspiration to me in starting my newbie blog. Wishing you another 3 or 30 years of blogging (if blogging is even still around 30 years from now;-)).
Congratulations! I wonder if blog years is kind of like dog years and BFS is actually 21 year old – LOL. In all seriousness, your/Len’s accomplishments are truly inspiring. Great job and good luck!
Congratulations! You’re an inspiration for all of us.
Congrats, Crystal! Here’s to many more great years
