Blog Goals for 2013

I’ve covered my main goals for 2013, but I figured you all may be more interested to know what I have in mind for BFS.  :-)   No worries, no huge changes coming, but I do want to reach out to you more.

Here are my specific goals:

  • More meat in my content.  I feel like 2010-2011 was really meaty and 2012 was a little more whatever-was-on-my-mind.
  • Continue on this posting schedule of Monday through Friday with a roundup on Saturday.
  • Ask you what you’d like to hear about more.  I’ll start now – want me to write about anything specific?
  • Grow the traffic to a solid 50,000 or more visitors a month by the end of the year.  We’re only around 15,000-20,000 a month right now.
  • Increase passive income.  I never really looked into affiliate revenue or increasing Adsense before…may be that time…

Help?

In order to reach these targets, I need help in a few places.

  • Most importantly, is there anything you’d like to hear about?  Just let me know here or email me anytime.
  • Any ideas on passive income streams?  I’d love to hear any suggestions.  :-)   So far, I’ve heard about Consumer Track, FlexOffers, Adsense, and promote products/eBooks that I like myself.  :-)

This was just a quick update post, but I’ll check in pretty regularly with updates so hopefully we can grow together, lol.  Thanks!

  • Commission Junction also offers a bunch of affiliate programs and there is always the Amazon affiliate program!

  • Great goals. I really want to increase my visitors as well!

  • I definitely need to increase my visitors as well.

I really liked your income updates in the past. I know you stopped because of the haters, but since the majority of people liked the updates, would you ever consider bringing it back to your blog?

  • I really liked your income updates, too. I’m sure you had a good reason for moving them to your newsletter but I’d love to see them back on the blog.

  • Happy new year! I’d love to see a post or two on techniques to get more blog visitors.

  • Hey, I really love how you’ve always been transparent with the blog and how you do things! I was thinking maybe for this year you take it back to the beginning and reflect on starting from scratch, what the hardest parts were and obstacles you had to over come? A lot of us are trying to follow you in your foot steps, maybe you could post a reworked first few months worth of goal targets we should strive to achieve?

  • Jenn

I want to hear more about board games! And I love your posts about paying down the mortgage – this is something I always struggle with – pay down the mortgage more, or put the money into savings.

  • @Lance, I’ve pretty much given up on Amazon after having their box or using their links for 2 years and making like $11. But thanks for reminding me of Commission Junction!

@Michelle, good luck to us both!

@Call Me, I am leaning towards yes as of today, lol.

@No Trust Fund, it’ll probably happen, haters be damned…

@Lisa, got it. When I start showing faster growth, I’ll write about how it happened…

@Andrew, sounds like a great idea. I’ll try to get to that over the next few weeks.

@Jenn, you got it! I can totally do a board game series, lol. And I do need to start a monthly update on mortgage payoffs…

  • With a couple of key affiliate relationships I wrote about recently on my blog, affiliate income has really exploded for me in the last few months. I think the key is looking for affiliate programs that are lead-based (that don’t immediately ask people to buy something–e.g. car insurance quotes) or offer the reader some benefit (e.g. a coupon code that also generates money for you from every sale). I’ve made more in one month with a few of these than I did in 4 years of other affiliate relationships.

  • Hey, this is a good one! All the best to you.

  • Well done with the post and hope you do well as per your wish.

  • I’m waiting to hear on my acceptance into FlexOffers! Also looking to grow my traffic this year but without compromising on any of my values.
