Welcome to the February 2014 BFS Newsletter Giveaway!!!

Thank you for subscribing. I hope you like the newsletter itself! If so, please share it with anyone you think may like it too! If you haven’t subscribed, please do so in the right sidebar before entering (I do check, lol) —>

As another thank you, this month’s giveaway prize is a $25 Amazon Gift Card or Paypal Cash AND a free copy of EITHER ONE of my eBooks – How I Make Money Blogging or Managing Your Monthly Nut!

All you need to do is subscribe to my newsletter and leave a single comment below by February 28, 2014 to enter to win!

It’s not required, but I’d appreciate it if you would leave a question for me as your single comment. The “Ask Crystal” section are way more fun if someone is asking me something, lol. Plus, these questions sometimes turn into blog posts. But if you’re plum out of ideas, feel free to say anything at all. :-)

I sincerely appreciate all of you!

The official stuff:

1) Contest ends February 28, 2014 at 11:59pm CST.
3) The winner must be a newsletter subscriber and will be selected randomly and notified by email by the third day of the following month.

4) The prize will be held for 2 calendar days. If it isn’t claimed, a new winner will be randomly picked and contacted.
5) I reserve the right to reject comments that I consider spam or invalid entries.
6) An invalid or incorrect email address automatically disqualifies you from the drawing…it’s hard to contact a fake email… 7) Local laws, rules, and regulations apply.

How should ‘earnings’ from websites like Swagbucks be claimed on your taxes? Are you allowed to enter them as other income or does it need to be included on a Schedule C?

  • Have you ever thought about diversifying your business, or are you trying to stick with what you do best?

  • Carmen

Congrats on another good month, Crystal!
Happy V-tines to you & hubby.
    Big plans for the day?
My sweet daughter and her hubby are getting married (civil ceremony only) in a small town in Italy & then going to Verona for their honeymoon…swoon!
The big wedding will be in September and we are madly scrambling to save for the trip over–can’t wait!
    Be well & happy, Crystal.

I find that even though we are meeting all of our savings and retirement goals, I still feel guilty about spending $250 a month on going out to eat. That averages out to 8% of our net income. Should I feel guilty?

  • How do you stay motivated when working from home? Sometimes I get distracted and want to do stuff like throw in a load of laundry or make a nice dessert for supper. Then once I’m doing that, I lose focus/momentum.

What are you most hoping to learn at FinCon this year and why?

So sorry about Miss Doxie! I have never cried harder or felt worse at the passing of any person as I have about my dogs. I think it’s that you have to be the one to decide and that takes lots out of you.

I’m new here and I want to make internet money, lol. I started a blog a million years ago, but only update once in a blue moon. I get distracted by my many other pursuits. So, what I’m wondering is, how did you start your blog and focus on it?
Also, I’m thinking about a move to Texas soon; what’s it like? I was thinking Austin, specifically.

I’m so sorry about Miss Doxie. What a tough thing to have to do. But of course you know it was time. Take it easy and try to enjoy your weekend. She had a wonderful life with you!!!

  • I am new to your newsletter and am glad to be here. I am sorry to hear about Miss Doxie. I have two cats that are my babies and my daughter thinks of them as her siblings. They are truly family. I am sending prayers your way and to Miss Doxie in beautiful animal heaven. Have a great weekend.

I just want to congratulate you on your 4 year blogoversary. ¡Felicidades!

  • A couple questions:
Can a previous winner win again? Is there a waiting period?

More seriously, do you have any reccomendations on someone who is skilled in the tech side of blogs/websites? I’ve spent 90 minutes trying to figure out how to set mine up, Id glady fork over a hundred bucks at this point!

  • Cynthia Richardson

Any insights are college scholarships, grants and (the dreaded) student loans?

  • Sorry to hear about your dog. I can’t imagine how we’ll get through when it’s time to say good-bye to ours. Hugs!

  • Judy Lee

Thanks for the chance to win!

  • Caitlin

Hey there – wanted to add my condolences about Ms. Doxie. Our pup is definitely not the most frugal decision we’ve ever made, but makes up for it with all her love. To add a question – any pet-related frugal tips?

  • I always enjoy receiving your newsletter!
