Health Update #2 – Crystal Light Challenge

As I told you all towards the end of November 2011, I am posting updates twice a month here to keep me accountable for the $1200 a year for fitness that we are spending on Weight Watchers and our gym memberships. Yep, I am using you as my accountability partners whether you signed up for it or not, hahaha. I’m posting on the weekday closest to the 15th and last day of each month. Here is how I did for the past couple of weeks.

Weight Watchers

I was getting 29 food points a day and 49 weekly points to use as I wished on food each week, so 252 total points. So, I am aiming for 250 food points or less a week from here on out. I have to use a minimum of 182 or I’d be physically starving my body – that wouldn’t be a healthy diet at all. Let’s see how I did:

Week of December 11 – December 17, 2011:

Sunday - 26 points
Monday – 26 points
Tuesday – 27 points
Wednesday – 28 points
Thursday - 26 points
Friday – 37 points
Saturday – 55 points

Total Weekly Points Used: 225 Points – Yay!

Then I went off the wagon.  Sorry.  icon sad Health Update #2 Crystal Light Challenge   From December 18 – December 31, 2011 I haven’t and won’t be keeping up with my food points, but I have been trying to exercise even more.  I’ll be starting with my Weight Watchers all over again on January 1, 2o11.

Gym Attendance

I set the goal to go to the gym at least 3 times a week when we signed up. I also have a bowling league Thursday nights and walk the neighborhood once in a while as well, but this is just about my gym attendance. Let’s see how I did.

Week of December 11 – December 17, 2011:

Sunday – Racquetball for 60 minutes
Monday – Nope
Tuesday – Racquetball for 70 minutes
Wednesday – Nope
Thursday – Nope
Friday – Racquetball for 60 minutes
Saturday – Racquetball for 70 minutes

Total Weekly Times at the Gym: 4 times – Yay!

Week of December 18 – December 24, 2011:

Sunday – Racquetball for 60 minutes
Monday – Racquetball for 60 minutes
Tuesday – Racquetball for 60 minutes
Wednesday – Nope
Thursday – Racquetball for 70 minutes
Friday – Nope
Saturday – Nope

Total Weekly Times at the Gym: 4 times – Yay!

Week of December 25 – December 31, 2011:

Sunday – Nope
Monday – Racquetball for 60 minutes
Tuesday – Nope
Wednesday – Racquetball for 60 minutes
Thursday – Nope
Friday – Nope
Saturday – Nope

Total Weekly Times at the Gym: 2 times – FAIL!

I’m still happy with myself since I was only leisurely walking 3 times a week before this. This is really the first time in years that I’m getting my heart rate up and my endurance has built up alot. icon smile Health Update #2 Crystal Light Challenge

Weight Goals Update

Other than the diet and exercise goals mentioned above, here were my weight goals as of November 28, 2011:

  • Weigh 155 pounds by December 31st, 2011.
  • Weigh 135 pounds by December 31st, 2012.

I am currently weighing in at 157.4 pounds, which is more than a pound heavier than where I started at the end of November. I actually think that’s pretty good since I’ve eaten everything I ever crave for 2 weeks.  I promise my next update will be better though.  icon smile Health Update #2 Crystal Light Challenge

  • Good For you Crystal. My wife and I did Jenny Craig. I lost 16lbs after the birth of my daughter. A man has to keep his hour glass figure as he gets older.

The key is consistency. Like blogging.

  • You are doing great Crystal! I was thinking about Weight Watchers online for 2012.

  • You’re doing awesome! I’m sucking it up right now and have only managed to lose 1 whole pound (I wanted to lose 5 in the month of December) but I also had to remember that I moved in the begining of December and wasn’t able to get to the gym as much as I wanted to due to that and I traveled for work. But at least I lost a pound and didn’t gain any.

  • This is a hard time of the year to stick to any diet! Remember small changes work much better than extreme changes that you cannot keep up. A few days or weeks are meaningless in the long term. Find a reasonable way of sticking with it. Weight Watchers is the best program.

  • One pound gain is good. I think I gained maybe 6-7 over the holidays. Not the best time to lose weight or watch what you eat or excersise! LOL I can’t believe I am actually ssaying it.

  • During the last part of Dec and the first part of Jan my goal is ALWAYS to just not gain. Since I have refused to get on the scale for 2 weeks, I’m pretty sure I have not met that goal this year.

I did just finish my 3 mile walk today up and down our hills and I did do Burn and Firm for 50 minutes this morning! Two days in a row I’ve been good.

Racquet ball is hard – good for you!

  • ‘Tis the season of indulgence! I gained a bit over the holidays too, and now have to work just that much harder to get it back off. :P

Don’t beat yourself up, just get back on track after the holidays are done. You’re off to a good start!

Disney Marathon is next week! Then Half Ironman training ramps up after I get back from vacation. It’s going to be a fun 2012!

  • Well, not so well in the weight category. I have let things slip over the last few months, but will be focusing intently in the new year. I am pleased with my weight lifting, though.

  • The last two weeks of the year are always the most difficult on a diet. The first of the year is the easiest! I’m sure you’ll make your goal this year. Good luck!

  • Well done, after Christmas i think the weight will be a big issue for most people. Ive added 6lb in the past 3 weeks. Not good. Back to the Gym tomorrow and a bit of violin . Nice Post.

  • Crystal – Good for you! Christmas time is by far the hardest time to stick to a healthy regimen. This New Year means getting back into running for my wife and myself. My legs already hate me!

  • The holidays were so horrible in terms of dieting. i think i may need to lose an additional 10 pounds just to get back to my pre-holiday weight : )

  • Hey Crystal – I think you’ve done great – especially with the gym visits. I don’t know anyone (unless they get sick) who loses weight over the holidays! I know I didn’t..lol!

  • Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I am trying to get back into the swing of things in regards to food right now. I seem to be staying on track exercise-wise. :-)

  • I’m so glad to find someone else tracking their weight loss! You are doing great- I think Weight Watchers had a great program. I’m doing my own, ‘Eat less, move more’ program. I’m enlisting as many as my close friends as possible to have the support.
I didn’t do so well food wise over the holidays but I did exercise more than I typically do. I took advantage of the warm weather where we vacationed and ran everyday. It seemed like a vacation compared running in 35 degree weather :)
