Health Update #4 – Crystal Light Challenge

As I told you all towards the end of November 2011, I am posting updates twice a month here to keep me accountable for the $1200 a year for fitness that we are spending on Weight Watchers and our gym memberships. Yep, I am using you as my accountability partners whether you signed up for it or not, hahaha. I’m posting on the weekday closest to the 15th and last day of each month. Here is how I did for the past couple of weeks.

My Update for January 15th through January 28th, 2012

I have been very, very bad.  I am so sorry.  I took a trip to L.A., my husband quit his day job and is now working from home, I am freaking out about everything, and my diet and exercising routine went to hell.  I didn’t even want to update you today as planned.

But you are my accountability partners and you deserve to know that I went AWOL.  I didn’t keep up with my Weight Watchers points at all and I played racquetball at the gym exactly one time.

Weight Goals

Other than the diet and exercise goals mentioned above, here are some weight goals for 2012:

  • Weigh 145 pounds by April 9th, 2012 for the 10-pound Challenge I joined.
  • Weigh 135 pounds by December 31st, 2012.

I started at 155.6 pounds on November 28, 2011, was up to 159 after the holidays, have been at the low of 154 since then, and am currently weighing in at 156.8 pounds.  Not cool.  I need to buckle down.  My next update will be around February 15th and I really hope to have way better news for you.

How did you do on your fitness goals?

  • Aw, life gets in the way, don’t beat yourself up about it! I’m sure you’ll have lots of renewed motivation to hit that goal and you’ll be back with a more positive report in February. Good luck.

  • I am doing OK with the exercise and weight. I could be doing better. I was at 213.6 last Thursday. I want to be under 200 (199.9 is good) by the end of the year. I have a little over 1 pound per month to get it done. I am going to be walking more in spring and summer.

  • You got it. Valentines Day is always rough with the abundance of chocolates..but if you can make it through..warm weather is soon on the way.

  • Between you and me my wife and I are on JC. It’s been great.

  • Well, I was doing pretty good and then I got sick. I need to get back to the gym and weigh myself. I was losing one pound a week. Being sick doesn’t help. I wouldn’t worry about not losing enough weight. You travelled! When I travel I don’t care about my weight and diet. I try to enjoy my travels. :)

  • @my honest answer, thank you. I will try. :-)

    @cashflowmantra, good luck!

    @MoneyforCollegePro, I will stay strong and save some points to use on chocolate. :-)

    @Jai, Jenny Craig? Glad it’s working for you two!

  • @Aloysa, sick sucks. I always go to comfort food when I am under the weather. Yep, and I never pay attention to calories while on vacation. ;-)

  • my fitness goals ahve been the 1 thing that has held steady for january – i’ve been to the gym every day except jan 1!

  • I went AWOL for the first two weeks of Janaury, so I understand. I’m back on track now, though, hitting the gym for weights & swimming, and getting in some running and riding at home.

    My eating has been terrible lately though, but that changes today – I stripped out all the junk as of today, and am trying to lose that last stubborn 10 pounds by my birthday in May!

  • I am terrified to step on the scale since I had knee surgery. I probably will be rivaling Jabba the Hut at this point.

    Once my knee is better though, I will be totally committed to getting back in shape. It is amazing how much you want to walk and run when you aren’t allowed to!

    Don’t be hard on yourself. You guys are going through huge life changes, and sometimes, something just has to give!

  • C’mon Crystal dont let things get in your way. Think of your fitness and Crystal Light Challenge like you are thinking of that mortgage. No excuses.

  • Have you thought about starting your day off exercising? Then you don’t have to worry about it the rest of the day?

    I’m doing well, just getting back into rock climbing and hopefully back to skiing every weekend.

  • Nike… Just Do It!

    I’ve been on my treadmill since right after Christmas and my wife says I don’t look as bloated (her words). I’ll take that as it’s working.

  • Hey Crystal – don’t beat yourself up! Everyone falls off the wagon, especially with big life changes, and travel. I’m down a whopping pound, but I have upped my weights at the gym, so I’m happy about that.

  • @Jeff, wow, that is awesome!

    @Kris, good luck!

    @Kris, thank you. And you are no Jabba the Hut…

    @Thomas, I am digging in. :-)

    @Jenna, I am trying to wake up earlier this week to do just that. Thanks!

    @David, lol, thanks!

    @Ellen, congrats! I’ll have a better update next time.

  • You are up a total of 1.2 pounds after the holidays and after some major life altering changes with Mr. BFS leaving his day job. Talk about pressure! You do not need to add any more pressure by worrying about your tiny set back. You are an incredibly driven individual and since you blow all of your other targets away, I have faith that you will meet…more likely exceed…this one too!
