Welcome to the May 2014 BFS Newsletter Giveaway!!!

Thank you for subscribing. I hope you like the newsletter itself! If so, please share it with anyone you think may like it too! If you haven’t subscribed, please do so in the right sidebar before entering (I do check, lol) —>

As another thank you, this month’s giveaway prize is a $25 Amazon Gift Card or Paypal Cash AND a free copy of EITHER ONE of my eBooks – How I Make Money Blogging or Managing Your Monthly Nut!

All you need to do is subscribe to my newsletter and leave a single comment below by May 31, 2014 to enter to win!

It’s not required, but I’d appreciate it if you would leave a question for me as your single comment. The “Ask Crystal” section are way more fun if someone is asking me something, lol. Plus, these questions sometimes turn into blog posts. But if you’re plum out of ideas, feel free to say anything at all. :-)

I sincerely appreciate all of you!

The official stuff:

1) Contest ends May 31, 2014 at 11:59pm CST.
2) ONLY ONE COMMENT/ENTRY PER PERSON.
3) The winner must be a newsletter subscriber and will be selected randomly and notified by email by the third day of the following month.

4) The prize will be held for 2 calendar days. If it isn’t claimed, a new winner will be randomly picked and contacted.
5) I reserve the right to reject comments that I consider spam or invalid entries.
6) An invalid or incorrect email address automatically disqualifies you from the drawing…it’s hard to contact a fake email…
7) Local laws, rules, and regulations apply.

Always appreciate this! Would love to hear any updates on care.com

  • How long do you expect to keep going with the pet sitting services? Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Christie

    Crystal:
You run several businesses. Pet sitting, blog advertising manager, blogger, freelance writing etc. If you could only work 20 hours a week ( not the current 40 or 60), what activities would you cut out ? Explain why you would cut what you cut.
    Thanks
    ~ Christie

  • I really like Christie’s question. I’d be interested to hear your answer :)

I just clicked on your “Crystal for Hire” tab. Kind of interesting the services you provide. How are the budgets going?

  • Candice

What is the most challenging thing of running your own businesses?

  • SherryH

    Hi, Crystal!

Two writing questions, sort of related:

    1. On another blog I read, the author referred to writing columns and said that, in effect, he wrote columns most of the days he posted to his blog. I’d never framed blog posts ascolumns before, but it makes sense, especially when I think about other blogs I enjoy. Do you think of blog posts as columns, and do you think framing them that way can be helpful?

    2. You do a whole lot of non-fiction writing. Do you ever do any fiction? Is there an unpublished novel lurking out there somewhere? ;-)

As always, thanks for the giveaway

  • In reference to Sherry H’s comment, above: I think of everything I write as a “story,” because that’s how we referred to articles during my 18-year newspaper career.
My blog posts are stories because they TELL stories — even if it’s a story about how to save money. Just my $0.02.

Sorry about your bad month!! But at least you have your side gigs and rentals to keep you afloat. Hang in there!! We all know you will find a way to make next month’s income rise.

  • Out of all the services you provide…if you had to choose one, which is your favourite?

  • Judy Lee

Thanks for this giveaway.Your blog is very important for me!

  • I’m so sorry about the loss of your pugster. You did the best thing for him and shouldn’t feel any guilt. Hugs!

  • Jen

I am sorry about your Pugster. Sounds like you made the right decision so please stop beating yourself up. Dogs live in the moment and we can learn from that. Your Pugster would want you to remember the good times you had together, not just the end and the guilt. *hugs*

I enjoyed your ”crappy companies” list. I have several that I could add to that for sure! lol

    Hi Crystal,
Still loving your blog and newsletter.
I actually do have a question….my kids have gifted me with a ticket to Istanbul & then Italy for my daughter’s wedding in Autumn…what is the best way to budget for additional trip expenses?
    Thanks–take care!

  • Shane

Love your blog and newsletter. Love the ideas that you give to have financial freedom. How on earth did you learn so much about this at such a young age. I still struggle and I’m in my early 40’s

  • Pedro

I learn a lot from your blog, especially the posta about home ownership issues. Thank you for sharing about this topic.
