Mortgage Payoff Update
As I proclaimed, lol, my husband and I are attempting to pay off our mortgage within 6 years or less – specifically, by the end of 2013. My personal goal is to shave another year off of that – so the end of 2012. In order to stay on track, I’ll be posting updates here as we make progress. Here’s what we have accomplished so far:
Payoff Amount on our goal start date (10/26/2011) – $62,634
Payoff Amount as of 11/20/2011 – $54,943.11
Our financial month runs from the 13th of one month to the 12th of the next, so I know how much extra we have after that. This month it looks like we’ll be throwing $5500 to the principal, so I look forward to being able to report another big reduction next week.

That is a great goal with your mortgage. My wife and I are trying to pay ours off in 15 years instead of 30 years.
Great job on the mortgage. I have a mortgage payoff widget on our site that lets us track how much is paid off. Looking at the end of 2014 as of right now to have it gone, but maybe it will end up being sooner!
All I can say is Wow!! It must feel so good to be putting all that money towards the principal. That’s fantastic!
Great goal for paying off the mortgage within a year. If things keep going the way they are that should be no problem.
@Robert, good luck!
@Jonathan, I have my fingers crossed for you!
@Cat, it does feel good but it is also an exercise in patience since our bank has hoops…
@LaTisha, based on this month so far, I am thinking we will be slowed down a bit until January, but hopefully we will then hit it hard!
