I’ve mentioned this before a million times, but I LOVE HALLOWEEN! Love it! It actually slightly edges out Christmas for me, and that says a lot!
For this Halloween, my hubby and I are going to host a Halloween masquerade ball potluck. Yep, an actual ball where we’re requesting everyone to dress up and wear an awesome mask of their choice. There will be eating, music, board gaming, and a Paranormal Activity marathon going on in the media room. Based on everyone scrambling around to find their outfit, I think it is going to be a huge success.
BUT, to host a great Halloween party, you need great decorations. I have these creepy plastic posters that I hang in the windows every year. At night with the lights on inside, they glow and show spooky things like cat eyes, a green face, and spiders. And one on the door looks like a skeleton head on fire. I also bought some indoor decorations like crime scene police tape that I put up everywhere and a few funny posters and signs. Oh, and the zombie gnomes below make me smile.
BUT, I didn’t have an amazing “piece” yet. Like the star of the show. Now I do.
Getting More Than Expected
My friend, Bill, is an artist. And he has blown me away. Consider my mind blown.
I asked for his help to create some silhouettes for the garage door. Here was what I was expecting:
But Bill didn’t know I expected cartoony pictures and he just started going all out! First he quickly cut out a very cool bat. Then he followed it up with the coolest RIP tombstone with a hand coming out of it. He was starting on another tombstone with a Firefly theme when he asked “Hey, you want a Weeping Angel?” Uhhh, YES PLEASE!
Within two evenings of watching Doctor Who together for less than 10 hours, LOOK at what Bill came up with!!! Is this not the coolest thing ever done with black poster board and a utility knife?!
If you don’t understand exactly what you are looking at – Google or YouTube “Weeping Angel” from Doctor Who. I found this satisfyingly creepy montage there:
Now, if you think these are as awesome as I think they are, just email me to get Bill’s contact info. I told him there was money to be made with talent like this! I just can’t emphasize enough how cool I think these are…definitely my favorite Halloween decorations ever!!!
And here’s a shout out to my friend, Dee from Losing Stuff Gaining Freedom, for getting these laminated so quickly so that I could hang them up ASAP!
Do you love Halloween too? What’s been your favorite decoration?
