For new readers or those looking for a change: I went from working at a dead end cubicle job from 2005-2011 for $26,500-$35,500 a year to being fully self-employed since July 2011, making a high of around $140,000 and a low around $80,000 per year…yes, 100% self-employed. My income comes from blogging, one rental home (our first house), professional pet sitting, and odd jobs I still jump into because I am nutballs (ask anyone). If you’d like to start your own site (that is the link to my step-by-step guide), I highly suggest checking out Bluehost (cheaper deal for clicking through me and 24/7 support). Self-employment gives me the flexibility to be able to help and see my family, hang out with my friends, and grow my net worth….and will come in handy if I can successfully get knocked up too (we started trying in late 2015). ;-) Or if blogging isn’t your schtick, check out any of my other money making posts like summer job ideas, selling my hair for $100+, or even how to sell your car on Craigslist! Please contact me any time at budgetingfunstuff*at*gmail*dot*com with questions or just to brainstorm! I’d love to help!
