Sell BFS for $20,000? And No More Amazon Links Here…

This post may contain affiliate links.

It’s been an interesting month. I was offered $20,000 last week to sell BFS, which has me looking into exactly what this site is worth. I also got kicked out of the Amazon Affiliate program.

Selling BFS?

Don’t freak out on me just yet. I was offered $20,000 and am seeing if this site would be worth closer to $50,000 or not. At $50,000, I’d sell and have a little breathing room while I try to grow Crystal’s Cozy Care faster. But for $20,000, I’m sticking around.

So, stay tuned here for the same Crystal download as always! And no matter what, you can always find me over at crystalscozycare.com, dogslifeforme.com, or crystalclearthoughts.com (though that is NOT where I am now, lol…those sites are all either static or dormant unless I ever give up BFS).

Not Feeling the Love from Amazon

I’m not sure why Amazon tossed me out of their affiliate program since they supposedly sent an email I can’t find, but there won’t be any more Amazon links here. Am I striking against Amazon or giving up my Prime account any time soon? No. But it is a little slap to the face.

This might end up being good luck in the long run though. I’ve been getting a little crazy about not being an online millionaire yet, and what the hell?! I was ecstatic the first time I sold a sidebar link for $45 and figured out I could make any money at all. Why the hell am I all jealous and grumpy because I’m not rolling in affiliate dollars?

Poop on that.

BFS Affiliates and Why

Let me be really clear – I use Bluehost for hosting for all of my other sites because it’s cheap (like $6 a month for my other 5+ sites altogether) and WAY better than Host Monster was for me. I think that makes it great for beginners and small sites.  If you grow a lot, then you can switch over to the $20-$100 per month host, but I don’t want to pay that up front for sites that aren’t going to be huge.  If you click on that last link, you’ll get a special rate when you sign up.

I also love Ting Wireless because they save us $750-$1100 a year with our cell phones.  We were on Sprint and paid $150+ a month for unlimited everything on our smart phones.  Now we pay between $45-$95 a month depending on how much we use…never had a bill higher than $95 for both of us and we don’t pay close attention to any of our data, minutes, texts, etc.  If you use my referral link, you will receive $25 off your first bill.  And they have a special right now for a free $9 SIM card.

You also have seen me mention Nextdoor.com a lot, though I’ve still not made a single cent from them. I love my neighborhood forums. I find great deals, meet sincere people, and get to help lost pets.

I also have really enjoyed using AirBnb the two times Dee and I have ran off for girls’ trips and used them. They make it easy to find affordable, comfortable homes away from home. And I got to stay in my first RV and a cute cabin because of them.  If you end up wanting to use them, click on my affiliate link and you will get up to $40 off your first stay.

I don’t know if you’ll see me mention other sites, but if I do, I promise I’ll tell you why and let you know about any of my bad experiences with them too. Do you have to support the same places I like? NO. But if you ever want to know about a service or something I like, just ask.

Crystal in the House (HAHAHA)

All in all, this site is a PERSONAL finance blog. My personal finance blog. I’m not into researching the top 10 ways to make your own laundry detergent. So you are more likely to learn that I made banana pancakes and didn’t like them than you are to see BFS on tv. And that means I can be silly here, angry here, sad here, exuberant here, and honest above all else.

So, hi. I’m Crystal. I love animals, hate bullies, want people to like me, have an entrepreneurial spirit, and I hope you keep reading for the years to come!!!

FYI:  I worked at a dead end cubicle job from 2005-2011 for about $30,000 per year.  I went self-employed in July 2011 and make between $70,000-$90,000 through blogging, professional pet sitting, hubby's reffing, and our rental home.  If you’d like to start your own site (link to my free step-by-step guide), I highly suggest checking out Bluehost (my referral link with a nice discount for you, PLUS a free custom header banner from me!).  Please contact me any time at budgetingfunstuff*at*gmail*dot*com with questions or just to brainstorm! I’d love to help!

  1. @Me, well, she asked what I was thinking…I said $50k and she said she could maybe come up to $20k and now I’m testing the water with others.

@Kylie, people have apparently laughed at that number today. But they also didn’t know I was already offered $20k, so haters just gonna’ hate, right? 😉

  2. I’d sure be sad to see BFS go away!

FaM never made any money, to speak of, on Amazon affiliate links. Well…except I had a friend who used to order ludicrously expensive dog food by the crate. She’d order through that link. But otherwise? No amount of hustling produced enough income to be worth the effort of installing the image and the hyperlink.

  3. Hey, at least a $20K offer is a compliment to you and the work you’ve done here, right? (Well, unless it’s so lowball that it’s more of an insult…I’d choose to see it as a compliment if I were you!)

We also love Ting wireless for our cell phones. The price is just so cheap and our phones are excellent. Plus, they still work now that we’re living in more of a rural area, so that’s a win!
