Have You Heard About Amazon Smile?

Reposting from 2016 since it’s good to know!!!  We’ve donated more than $31 to SMART Animal Rescue (Sunmart Animal Rescue Team Inc. on Amazon Smile) since I found out about it…we are sort of Amazon addicts…

I know gobs of us use Amazon, but have you heard about the Amazon Smile program?  It’s an easy way to support a favorite charity when you shop on Amazon and it costs you NOTHING.  The prices aren’t higher or anything.  Same Amazon, but now 0.5% of what you’re paying will be given back to the charity of your choosing when you join.

Easy to Smile

All you have to do is visit smile.amazon.com and select a charitable organization to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. They donate there whenever you shop using smile.amazon.com.  You can change your choice at any time.  And they will occasionally remind you to switch over to Smile when you forget and are on Amazon anyway.  But I just bookmarked “smile.amazon.com” as my main Amazon link so I don’t accidentally forget.

I’ve been on Amazon Smile for a while and my charity of choice is SMART Animal Rescue (Sunmart Animal Rescue Team Inc. on Amazon Smile).  There is a whole list of charities that have signed up, so you have a lot of options!  And if your favorite charity isn’t there, let them know to sign up!

Not a Substitute for Giving, But No Reason Not to Participate

Will 0.5% of my purchases add up to a whole hell of a lot? No. I’d have to spend $10,000 just to get $50 donated through Amazon. BUT, I shop at Amazon a ton anyway. Why leave free money on the table? It can add up when a lot of people choose the same charity.  Just don’t let it affect your decision making processes when shopping and you’ll be golden!

I didn’t receive anything for this post and didn’t include any affiliate links. Just sign up because it’s a classic win-win! No cost to you and you help a charity to boot just by doing something you’d do anyway!

FYI:  I worked at a dead end cubicle job from 2005-2011 for about $30,000 per year.  I went self-employed in July 2011 and make between $70,000-$90,000 through blogging, professional pet sitting, hubby's reffing, and our rental home.  If you’d like to start your own site (link to my free step-by-step guide), I highly suggest checking out Bluehost (my referral link with a nice discount for you, PLUS a free custom header banner from me!).  Please contact me any time at budgetingfunstuff*at*gmail*dot*com with questions or just to brainstorm! I’d love to help!
